new album - gold
in july, life is my soundtrack released it's newest album "gold." it features 8 new songs, and in many ways, begins an expansion of what i've always wanted life is my soundtrack to be.
music has a huge spectrum, and i want to dive in and explore it. the previous releases in the series have been slow, minimal, mostly ambient songs, and gold is a bit of a departure, with it's tracks feeling bit more anthemic. i want to continue to explore bigger music in future releases, and gold is the beginning of a bridge to the next destination. i will (of course) also continue to also make smaller pieces as well, but that's the nature of the spectrum.

recording update
hi everyone! i wanted to take a minute to give you a quick (and much needed) recording update. i've been getting a lot of emails lately asking when the next album is going to be released. i realize that it's been quite a while since the last major release, and i've been been keeping most of the details under wraps, so i thought this would be a good opportunity to get you all up to speed on where the recording is at.
my plan moving forward is to post weekly recording updates to the life is my soundtrack facebook page (www.facebook.com/lifeismysoundtrack) to keep you all up to date on how recording is coming along. the updates will also continue on for future releases.
i've been working since around mid-2012 on a new full-length album, and to put it shortly, it's taking a lot longer than expected to get it finished. i'm really excited with how it's coming along, but progress has been slow. there have been several re-writes of different parts and almost constant adjustments to the song arrangements, but all the extra work is really helping the new songs take shape. it has a much different feel than the other albums in the series, and i'm excited to share it with you!
currently, the album is made up of 7 tracks, and the plan for now is to stick at 7, unless it doesn't feel complete when it's finished. and although i don't know how long it will be until it's ready to be released, here is a quick breakdown of where each song is at (as of august 14, 2013).
song 1 is pretty much finished, and has been sent off to rory carruthers for mixing. song 2 is just about finished as well, and should be on the way to rory's later this week. song 3 is what i'm working on at the moment. it's getting there, but i have a few ideas i still want to try out. songs 4-7 are in various states of completion, but are generally in pretty good shape.

bandcamp's best compilation
life is my soundtrack's rendition of "moonlight sonata" is now a featured track on the new compilation "the best of bandcamp's best - vol. 01."
bandcamp's best is a website that reviews the music of independent artists that use bandcamp as a means of music distribution. in 2011, i was fortunate enough to have my album "remixes, vol. 01" reviewed (you can read the review here). in celebration of bandcamp's best passing the 1 year mark, an 18-song compilation has been commissioned, featuring artists who have been featured on the website.
a special thanks goes out to mark of bandcamp's best, who reviewed "remixes, vol. 01" and also reached out, wanting to include life is my soundtrack on the album.
